The authors of a 2016 paper reviewed 10 training studies and clearly state that generalization of skills to realistic contexts and situations is uncertain. Most studies still either do not test for generalizability to real world contexts or fail to achieve generalizability.  Those that appear to have some limited generalizability use simulated social interactions (e.g., videos, story narratives) and do not test social perception with live humans.[1]
